Information and Notices
We have been working on ways to connect existing carrot and stick behavioural safety programs with the benefits of: eliciting thoughtful discretionary behaviour to detect and recover from potentially unsafe situations; understanding the power and intransigence of habits so they can be purposefully directed; using the potential for environmental activators (nudges/choice architecture) to direct unconscious behaviour. While not new thinking the introduction of these concepts can broaden the scope of and legitimise the application of participative control actions, and extend the life of existing behavioural and cultural interventions. Accidents are a process that develops over time - there is always time to intervene. | ![]() |
